Introduction
My name is Sarah Barnett, and I have completed the Education Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program Summer 2013 and graduated Summer 2014. I also graduated from Mercer University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in English and secondary education. Immediately after graduation, I began teaching at Woodland High School. During my second year of teaching, I earned my Master's Degree from Troy State University in Educational Technology.
I currently teach Advanced Placement Literature and Composition to 12th grade students at Woodland High School in Henry County. I serve as English department chair, volunteer on the technology focus team, and am helping to pilot a new personalized learning academy at my school for our students most at-risk of not graduating on time. We are hoping to blend face-to-face and online instruction as well as personalize the curriculum to address each student's educational needs.
KSU's reputation in instructional technology led me to the Education Specialist Degree program in the Department of Instructional Technology. My ultimate goal is to obtain a job as a school level or district level technology coach, or to use my instructional coaching knowledge to serve as an instructional lead teacher or Assistant Principal of Curriculum. I plan to continue with my education by pursuing my doctoral degree in Instructional Technology at KSU.
The purpose of this portfolio is for me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kennesaw State University, and feel that I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
